Favorite TV Series

The only series I've actually been able to watch all the way through without getting bored would be The Walking Dead. It's a currently on going show and I've always kept up with new episodes being released. The television series is actually based off of a comic written by Robert Kirkman. The series also being called The Walking Dead was highly successful, and turned into a show. It's actually quite a coincidence that this is the subject of this edition of blogs, considering The Walking Dead is coming back on this Sunday.

The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror television series set after the spread of a Zombie themed virus infects everyone on earth turning humanity to ruins. The series starts out with a confused Rick Grimes in a hospital bed. He wakes up alone and confused in a zombie ridden world. He has absolutely no idea what's going on because he's been in a coma for four to five weeks. All he knows is that he has to find his family and survive.

There's currently seven seasons, the seventh still on going, and there's going to be a lot more to come. I'd very much recommend The Walking Dead to anyone with a strong stomach. There's enough gore to expect in a zombie themed television series, but it's still an astounding amount. Also i'f you're someone willing to lose a few (a lot) of characters along the way, I'd highly recommend this show to you.

Favorite Music

Today, music plays a huge part in American culture. It's socially impactful with both influential and philosophical context; it also plays a huge economic role. One of the most interesting things I've read about music itself is in an interview where Moby, a singer and songwriter, replies with this to an interviewer asking what music is, "One of the really fascinating things about music is that technically- in a very literal way- it doesn’t exist. A painting, a sculpture or a photograph can physically exist, while music is just air hitting the eardrum in a slightly different way than it would randomly. If you were a space alien trying to define music- you would define it as humans manipulating the way in which air molecules hit someone’s eardrum. Somehow that air- which has almost no substance whatsoever- when moved and when made to hit the eardrum in tiny subtle ways- can make people dance, cry, move across country, go to war and more. It’s remarkable that something so subtle can illicit profound emotional reactions in people."

Personally, my favorite type of music is rap/hip hop. Some of my favorite artists being Chance the rapper, Drake, and Russ. Chance is an America hip hop artist who began to achieve popularity after his album Acid Rap. His career originally started in 2011, Acid Rap being released in 2013 only two years after. Russ is also an American hip hop artist and record producer. He's one of the fastest growing artists of 2016. He started all the way back when he was 7, writing raps and making beats when he was 14 years old.

Reflection on Place and Culture

In Humboldt County there's a verity of different places, but specifically I'm thinking about Fortuna, California, the place inwhich I live in. Living here you get to experience amazing scenery of the redwoods and the beautiful warm sunset along the coast. I've lived here for long enough to personally say it's not that beautiful, but I know when I lived down south and we'd visit up here, all the scenery compared to the city was a lot to take in. There's also a lot of festivals or events that happen in Fortuna, such as the Rodeo, the Apple Harvest, Autorama, and many many more. The Apple Harvest is when the entire town, and more, get together and create so many different products made from apples. The Autorama is a car show of the best, and oldest, cars I've ever seen still working in fine condition today. That's enough about here, I wanna hear about where your place!

About Me

My name is Atticus Peppas I'm currently enrolled in Fortuna Union High School in the 10th grade, and I live in Fortuna, California. Previously I lived in Oakland, California, a city 5 hours south of here. We moved due to my mom waiting to go to nursing school, unfortunately she failed, but is gonna give it another go. My dad actually still lives down there in that area and I visit time to time, honestly a pretty beautiful and diverse city. I currently don't exactly have any passions or hobbies, but I do like being occupied and focused on something. I love hanging out with friends and traveling, sadly my family stopped right after I was born but it's always something I've loved to do. I also love making new friends so I can't wait to hear a bit about you guys!
